Presented by Nina Tisara, Artist-Photographer and Rev. Lisa Cole Smith, Artistic Director and Pastor of The Church at Convergence
Join us for this special program with local artist-photographer Nina Tisara. Her recent exhibit, Witnessing Worship: Connecting Through the Lens of Faith, was presented to help people have a deeper understanding of one another through a look at her moving and sensitive photographs of diverse worship practices of yesterday and today. She will be joined by Reverend Lisa Cole Smith, an actor, director, pastor, and creative entrepreneur who founded The Church at Convergence, a congregation in Alexandria that believes in supporting arts, imagination, and creativity.
The exhibit, which was held at The Church of Convergence, was designed to encourage conversations about the struggles and joys shared by the community on matters such as race, religion, gender, and politics. Commenting on the photo exhibit, Reverend Cole Smith said: “We see people like us engaged in religious acts that are foreign to us, and we see people who are in some way different from us expressing things that are so familiar and personal… Perhaps listening to one another’s stories is a good way to begin seeking unity.” The exhibit was made possible in part through the cooperation of the Office of Historic Alexandria. Bagels and cream cheese will be served after the program.
