J Camps

A summer of camp fun with memories to last a lifetime!

J Camps at the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia provide fun and formative summer experiences for school-age children from grades K - 10. Our vision is to create a safe space for campers and staff to learn and grow through building relationships with one another, engaging in meaningful programming, and embracing old and new camp traditions infused with Jewish culture.

Through daily scheduling, field trips, special events, and leadership opportunities, campers from our youngest unit (Tzofim) to our oldest (Olim Bet) will look forward to augmented programming each year until they reach CIT-status, and ultimately join our J Camps staff team

J Camps

Summer 2019 Dates:

Full Summer (Weeks 1-8):

1st Session (Weeks 1-4):

2nd Session (Weeks 5-8):

Regardless of which camp experience you choose, here are some things you need to know about all of our camps:

  • J Camps fill up quickly, so be sure to register early to ensure your child’s space is reserved.
  • Campers are encouraged to sign up for sessions in order to maximize their camp experiences and build relationships with other campers and staff.
  • All camps begin and end their day at the J. The camp day, unless otherwise noted, runs from 9:00am - 4:00pm. We start our day with Mifkad (an all camp community gathering to get the energy flowing with dancing, singing, daily announcements, etc.) and end our day with carpool.
  • Before- and After- Camp Care is available as an add-on between 7:30am - 9:00am and 4:00pm - 6:00pm.
  • Campers should come to camp every day with a bagged nut-free, meatless lunch (i.e. dairy or vegetarian), complete with a water bottle.
  • Please send your campers wearing sneakers and with a swimsuit and towel each day.

Inclusion at J Camps

We support the inclusion of all children in camp, regardless of one’s physical, social or emotional needs. Camp is a place to learn, grow, and have fun! If your child needs additional support to ensure a successful summer in J Camps, we can arrange for an Inclusion Support Staff (Shadow) at an additional cost.

Priority will be given to campers who register early for either the full summer or four-week session. We look forward to supporting you and your child for a successful and fun-filled summer!

Please contact Arlene Lechner, or 703.537.3032, to arrange for an Inclusion Support Staff or for any other accommodations.
