Join the Volunteer Corps
Are you looking for a truly enjoyable, enriching and rewarding experience? Join the J Volunteer Corps — there are so many ways to share your time and talents! Participate in the Mitzvah Corps’ monthly social-action projects, which are a great service to the community.
Perform A Mitzvah
The J helps to feed the hungry every month at the Lamb Center in Fairfax. The first Tuesday of every month, members bring in casseroles which we deliver to the Lamb Center.
If you are interested in helping out, please contact Pam.Wiener@jccnv.org to be put on the Mitzvah list. There is no obligation to make a casserole every month, but if you are able to do so when convenient it would be a great help.
Social Action Project: Feed the Hungry
Food for Others needs canned and/or nonperishable foods. They especially need canned meats, chili, fruit, pastas, vegetables, and macaroni & cheese. If you are bringing something from your pantry, please check the expiration dates on all items. Remember to bring an item with you whenever you come to the J. Let’s make sure that no one who lives in Northern Virginia goes to bed hungry! Thanks for your continued support.
Donations Requested: Annual Used Book, CD and DVD Sale
Are you looking for a place to recycle your gently used adult and children’s books, CDs, DVDs, games and puzzles? Please consider donating them to be sold at our annual used book sale. Donations can be dropped off at the front desk at any time. We cannot accept any prayer books, religious books, or encyclopedia sets.
Volunteer Opportunity: We need volunteers to sort the books and work at the event. If you would like to volunteer, please contact: Pam.Wiener@jccnv.org.
