Programs in the Sports, Fitness & Aquatics Department meet the needs of individuals of all ages and levels of ability.

Class Descriptions

Beginning June 1, 2009, new and renewal memberships now include popular group exercise classes FREE of CHARGE!  Classes listed below in blue are included in membership dues.

Boot Camp
Intense cardiovascular exercise coupled with strength-training to give you a total body workout. Free weights, stability balls and medicine balls are used during this 8-week program. Workouts progress through each week, adding new components and physically challenging participants. Body fat percentage and diet are monitored throughout the program.

Cardio Kickboxing
High-Energy “Martial Arts” and “Aerobic-Style” Workout! Each class finishes with toning

Core Conditioning
Strengthening exercises focused on shaping the abdominal wall, obliques & low back

Jazzercise 
Combines cardio, strength and stretching choreographed to music for a total body workout for all ability levels.

Kickboxing Interval Aerobic Exercise Program
A high-intensity interval aerobic exercise program that includes punching and kicking using mitts and shields.

Low Impact and Strength Training

Combines low impact exercise with large-muscle strength training.

NEW!
Medicine Ball Training
Improves upper- and lower-body and core strength as well improves balance, stability, flexibility and reaction time.

Sculpt and Shape
Focuses on upper and lower body contouring and shaping.

SilverSneakers®
Chair or standing exercise designed for functional strength training for seniors 65+.


Water Aerobics (H2O)
Conducted in the shallow area of the pool, gentle on the joints.

Yoga
Fuses the body and mind through breathing, meditation and movement.

 
Youth Sports

The JCCNV offers a variety of youth sports leagues including: soccer, flag football, t-ball and basketball. Contact Allison Colman at (703) 537-3052 for more information.

 
LIFT: Leadership Inspired Fitness Training

Strong Body + Strong Mind = Strong Leader

The Sports, Fitness & Aquatics is proud to present a brand new program: LIFT.  Leadership Inspired Fitness Training is an intensive program designed for 7th-12th graders that trains students in proper nutrition, cardiovascular exercise, body motion, and weight training.  The program begins in early January.  Contact Curtis Doss for more information at CurtisD@jccnv.org, or 703-537-3028.

Babysitting

Monday thru Friday
9am—noon
Ages six months and older. 

Staffing is provided by the Early Childhood Department. Register at the JCCNV front desk at least 24-hours, but no more than 48-hours, in advance. Drop-ins will be accepted on a space-available basis.

Adult-to-child ratio is based on Virginia Day Care licensing requirements; one adult to 5 children when ages are 2 or older, one adult for 4 children when there are children younger than 2 years. 
Cost: Free Member/ Nonmember $1.50 per 1/2 hour minimum

 
One-on-One

Personal fitness training by a certified personal trainer.
Is your workout a little dull or maybe even boring? Let the JCCNV personal training staff create a new program to spice it up! Youth Fitness-Room Training

Instructor: Matt Alvin
Six approximately 60-minute sessions.     
Now 11–13-year-olds can learn to use the fitness room on their own. Work one-on-one with an SFA staff trainer to learn to use the fitness room equipment and develop an exercise and training program that will improve health, self-confidence and self-esteem.
Ongoing: Monday thru Thursday only.
Cost: $120M/ $220NM (6 classes)

Fitness Room Age Requirements:  Members ages 14 and older may use the room at any time.  Members ages 11—13 must complete the Youth Fitness Training Class before being allowed to work out in the fitness room.

Proper Attire Required: Shorts or sweatpants, T-shirt or sweatshirt and athletic shoes.

Locker Rental (Members Only)

Lockers are available for rent through the SFA office from January through December.  Fees are pro-rated for rentals after January 31.
Long Locker: $100 yearly
Short Locker: $50 yearly
