Visit to the Ford’s Theatre Campus

Monday, December 17, depart JCCNV 10am; return 2:30pm

This visit will trace the story of Abraham Lincoln’s presidency, assassination and legacy. The Museum in Ford’s Theatre houses artifacts and exhibits from Lincoln’s presidency and assassination. You will also sit in the historic Theatre where Lincoln was shot and possibly attend a talk by a National Park Service Ranger. Then we’ll head across the street to the Petersen House, the house where Lincoln died. Your historical journey will end in the Center for Education and Leadership, where you will learn about the immediate aftermath of the assassination as well as the lasting legacy Lincoln has had on the country and the world.

Schedule: 11am Museum self-guided tour; 11:30am National Park Ranger Talk in Ford’s Theatre, then approx. 15 minutes in the Petersen House followed by approx.1– 1 ½ hours in the Center for Education – self guided tour.

Fee: $16/ $12 JCCNV member for bus transportation and ticket.

Check is to be made payable to the JCCNV with “12/17” in the memo and bring in or send in to Michele Endick, Senior

Adult Dept., JCCNV. These are timed, prepaid tickets thus there will be no refunds – if you cannot make the trip you can give it to a friend or we’ll replace you only if we have a wait list. Note there are a few steps up to the Petersen house. Also note that the bus MUST leave the JCCNV on time to make the timed entry ticket time, thus we cannot wait for latecomers. Entire time at the Ford’s Theatre Campus will be approx. 2 hours. We will not be stopping for lunch, thus you may bring food for the return bus ride.
