Summer Camps

Camp Achva 2013

June 24-August 23

Grades: Rising K–10th

This summer, enjoy the summer of a lifetime at Camp Achva! Pack your bags and head to Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and local destinations to complete fun community service projects with our Mitzvah Corps and Travel Camp; learn how to become an effective leader and counselor in our Counselor-in-Training program; travel to Orange County, CA for the JCC Maccabi Games® and JCC Maccabi ArtsFest®; strengthen your acting chops in our Omanoot (Arts) Theater Camp; or sign up for our one-week specialty camps which include golf, chess, sailing, horseback riding and much more! Mitzvah Corps/Travel Camp

Grades: Rising 7th–9th

In coordination with Camp JCC in Rockville, earn community service hours with the perfect combination of volunteering, hands-on activities, adventure and fun. The first weeks of both sessions are geared towards participation in local one day community service projects; and the second weeks are reserved for overnight travel to other cities where service learning is combined with sightseeing adventures and other dynamic activities!

Weeks 1 and 2:
June 24–28: Local trips
July 1–5: Bus to Cleveland and Pittsburgh

Weeks 5 and 6:
July 22–26: Local trips
July 29–August 2: Bus to Philadelphia

Two-week fee: $1,720/ $1,600 JCCNV member

Counselor-in-Training (CIT)

Grades: Rising 10th

This program is designed for rising 10th graders who are interested in learning how to be great counselors and effective leaders while earning community service hours. The CIT experience includes: assisting with daily group activities; involvement in large scale camp events; weekly leadership development training and team-building; overnight field trips during each two-week session; and time to hang out with friends.

Weeks 1 & 2: June 24–July 5 (no camp Jul. 4)
Weeks 3 & 4: July 8–19
