Do you enjoy working with kids and being a role model? The BASE program is looking for energetic, caring, and responsible staff to help supervise the kids in the program. To apply, please complete the staff application.
Start the day off right! Beginning at 7:30am each morning, your child can catch up on his/her reading, hang with friends, play games, and prepare for the school day. The AM BASE program is available to students in select schools. Please contact us to see if your child’s school is on the transportation list. Transportation to area schools is done through Fairfax County Public School transportation, Gesher Jewish Day School busing, the J’s buses, or a contracted transportation company.
Make the most of every afternoon! The PM BASE program runs from the time the school dismisses until 6pm daily. Upon arrival from school, your child will be served a snack, comprised of two nutritious food groups, and will be able to choose from the following activities:
• A quiet homework room with staff on hand to assist
• Science, arts and crafts, and cooking projects
• Free creative play in either the Junior (grades K–2), Senior (grades 3–5), or Home (grades 6-8) BASE rooms stocked with age-appropriate toys, games, and books
• Organized sports and team-building activities in our full-sized gymnasium and outside on the playground
• A wide variety of board games and card games in our game room
• Free swim twice a week in the J’s 25-meter, heated indoor pool
This program is specifically designed for our older students who require less supervision. Students in this program have the freedom to spend their afternoons in an area designated just for them. Staff will be in place to give one-on-one attention to these students as they unwind, play games, learn from each other, and focus on their school work.
Students who attend Mantua Elementary School and Gesher Jewish Day School can ride their designated school bus to the J. Contact your child’s school to arrange transportation.
For students attending Wakefield Forest, Olde Creek, Little Run, Camelot, Canterbury Woods, Stenwood, Mosby Woods, Fairhill, Daniel’s Run, and Oak View elementary schools, the J can provide transportation.
Fee: $115/ $95 members (per month regardless of number of days attending BASE)
For children with special needs, the J is proud to offer a range of support and services to help all children enjoy all the fun and exciting activities that the BASE program has to offer. Please contact the Special Needs Department at 703.537.3031 for more information.
Join us when school is out for teacher work days, holidays, and during inclement weather when area schools are delayed or closed! No need for you to find a last-minute babysitter or take a valued day off. Whether you need care for one day or the whole year, BASE is your place!
BASE Vacation Days run from 7:30am–6pm. Remember to send your child with a meatless lunch, swimsuit and towel, and weather-appropriate attire. Please note that if you are new to the BASE program, we need to have an emergency contact and child profile form on hand.
Fairfax County Early Release Days and Gesher Noon Dismissals
We also offer care on days when students are released early from school. During this pre-BASE care, children can eat lunch, watch a movie, and play games until BASE begins. Early release care is covered for all BASE families registered for a BASE-ic Package. Drop-in care is available for all others.
The J’s BASE program offers care when schools are closed or delayed due to inclement weather! If schools open late, BASE is open as of 7:30am. When schools release early, BASE is open until 6pm. On snow days, BASE operates from 9am–5pm. Space is guaranteed for all BASE-ic Package families; all others must call or email to reserve their space.
