Our team of certified personal trainers create goal-based programs focusing on your needs to keep your workouts systematic so you are injury free. We want our clients to leave the J feeling fueled with motivation and happy. Most importantly, we also want to make sure that our clients gain the knowledge and the confidence to continue their workouts on their own to live a healthy and balanced life.

Our Personal Training Packages include, but are not limited to:

Meet our Trainers 

Elin Kanchev, Personal Training Director

Elin Kanchev is the JCCNV Sports and Wellness Director. He has participated in various sports. He finds his biggest passion in Martial Arts and all supporting sports. Elin is from Plovdiv, Bulgaria and currently lives in Alexandria, Virginia. He has been a group and a personal trainer since 2003. Currently, Elin is focusing on Strength and Conditioning for various sports, Track and Field, HIIT, CrossFit, Physical Fitness, Mindful Mediation, Nutrition, Health and more. His favorite thing about working at the JCCNV is the atmosphere of the Center and being able to help people of all ages reach their goals.

Matt Alvin, Fitness Director

Matt Alvin has been in the fitness industry for more than 30 years and has been working in the JCCNV Sports, Fitness and Aquatics department since 1996. He is a certified personal trainer through AFPA, certified kickboxing/boxing coach, and holds a 3rd Degree Blackbelt from the American Karate/Kickboxing Institute. What Matt most enjoys about working at the JCCNV are the friendly members and being able to share his love of fitness. In his spare time, Matt enjoys riding his Harley with his motorcycle crew, competing in mixed martial arts, and playing with his Boston Terrier. Matt specializes in fitness boxing training, kickboxing, strength and conditioning and injury rehabilitation. His training philosophy is “fitness is forever.”

Jane Hansen, Personal Trainer

Jane Hansen has enjoyed exercise and fitness through years of jogging and being a group instructor teaching Jazzercise classes. Jane has been with the JCCNV since 1992 as a certified Jazzercise Instructor and Personal Trainer, and she recently completed her degree in Exercise Science from George Mason University. What Jane enjoys most about working at the JCCNV is getting to know the members and learning more about the Jewish heritage and traditions. When Jane is not at the JCCNV, she loves yard and garden work, catching up with her four children, and obedience training her two Pomeranians. Jane specializes in core training, weight training, adults/senior fitness and working with clients with osteopenia.

Lynne Maloney, Personal Trainer

Lynne Maloney has been a fitness professional for over ten years and has been an avid “fitness fan” since high school.  She’s a certified Jazzercise instructor and ACE certified personal trainer who likes to make exercise fun, whether working with clients one on one or in small groups.  The satisfaction of helping people reach and maintain their fitness goals is her greatest reward.  In fact, she recently left a long  and fruitful career in the newspaper industry to focus on a full-time career in fitness.  She enjoys the friendly and genuine atmosphere of the JCCNV.  “It’s a happy and healthy place to be!”   In her spare time you’ll find Lynne hanging out with her husband, daughter and nine-year old Schnoodle pup.  She loves to travel and enjoys the simple things:  good music, books, wine and friends!

Cindy Rosen, Personal Trainer

Cindy has been a member of the JCCNV community for several years, but recently joined our Personal Training staff.  She has a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education from Penn State University and was in the United States Marine Corps for 24 years before becoming a certified Personal Trainer through the National Personal Training Institute.  She has taught aerobics classes as well as swimming lessons, and has a wide range of fitness knowledge and certifications- including kettle bells, TRX & more making her a very well-rounded trainer.   Cindy enjoys working with people and helping them reach their personal fitness goals- she loves it when her clients say “I never thought I could do this but now I can!”   In her free time Cindy enjoys cooking (healthy food!), working out, and spending time with her family!

David Astrow, Personal Trainer

Dave grew up in Northern Virginia and has been a personal trainer since 2010. He graduated from Annandale High School where he was on the wrestling, football, and lacrosse teams. After graduation, he served as the assistant freshman football coach. He is a second degree purple belt and certified instructor in level 2 Brazilian Jujitsu, and reached the second level in Krav Maga (combat system of the Israel Defense Forces). Dave specializes in circuit training, core training, sports conditioning, youth fitness, and weight loss. He is an AFAA Certified Personal Trainer. In his spare time, Dave likes to train and play paintball. He enjoys assisting people of all ages and fitness levels reach their personal health and fitness goals.

Kris Baychev, Personal Trainer

Kris began his fitness career in 2003 when he was chosen to create group fitness classes while in the Bulgarian army. He is originally from Sratra Zagora, Bulgaria and currently lives in Arlington. Before he started his professional fitness career, he had participated in several sports including: wrestling (won 3rd place in the country championship), MMA, and Street Fitness. His training specialties include stabilization, strength traiing, power training, and fat loss. Kris' favorite thing about working at the J is being able to share his love for fitness and sports with people of all ages while helping them get into a healthy lifestyle and into their best shape possible.
