Inclement Weather Policies

Early Childhood Services
Infant/Toddler and Preschool:
- If Fairfax County Schools have a delayed opening, preschool is open on time. Note: no hot lunch will be served when preschool is closed.
- If Fairfax County Schools are closed, preschool is closed.
Day Care
- If Fairfax County Schools have a delayed opening, day care is open on time.
- If Fairfax County Schools are closed, Preschool Child Care is open
from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All students regularly scheduled for child
care on the day in question may attend the program. If weather prevents
us from opening altogether we will try to notify all parents by 6:30 am
or a recording will be made for the phone line. We cannot open unless we
can get staff here safely.
Specialty Classes
- If preschool is closed there are no specialty classes
BASE
- If Fairfax County Schools are closed: BASE is open from 9a.m. to 5p.m.
- If Fairfax County Schools have a delayed opening:
BASE is open
from 7:30 a.m. until the school bus arrives. If a child is regularly
scheduled for morning day care on the day in question he/she is
qualified to participate as usual.
Parents are encouraged to call
the JCCNV Inclement Weather Hot Line at (703) 425-3763 before coming to
verify that the BASE staff was not delayed due to the inclement weather.
Sports, Fitness & Aquatics
- If Fairfax County Schools have delayed opening, all morning adult SFA
classes are canceled. Afternoon children’s classes are on schedule.
- If Fairfax County Schools are closed, all morning adult SFA classes and all children’s classes are canceled.
Adult Classes
Senior Programs
- If Fairfax County schools are closed our Active Retiree Programs are
canceled. If schools have a delayed opening, we will hold our programs
at the regular time.
Lunch & Learn
- If Fairfax County schools have delayed opening or are closed, the
Lunch & Learn program is canceled. There will be make-up dates for
any canceled programs.
Brown Bag Lunch
- If Fairfax County schools have delayed opening or are closed, the Brown Bag Lunch program is canceled.
Evening Activities
- In the event of inclement weather, please call the JCCNV Inclement
Weather Hot Line at (703) 425-3763 prior to departing for the Center to
verify that the building is open.
