This month, we are featuring two cool and not-so-familiar Israeli nongovernmental organization (NGO) so you can get to know some of the amazing things Israelis do that you might not have heard about!

Masa Israeli Mibereshit - Israeli Roots Odyssey
A unique, life changing educational experience, designed to reinforce individual, Jewish and Zionist identities in Israeli teens. Read more
Pa’amonim is a nationwide volunteer organization dedicated to helping families and individuals conduct their household finances with balance, responsibility and integrity, thereby strengthening Israel’s economic and social fabric. Read more

Are you tired of book, wine, and poetry clubs? Do you want to bring some spice into your home? Let’s have a fun evening together cooking “shakshuka,” an Israeli delicacy, while talking and learning about Israel!
A few details:
- The gatherings are designed for groups of 12–18 people. Hosts extend the invitations to their friends, family, co-workers, etc.

Join Liat each week for conversational Hebrew. You will learn and practice Hebrew in a fun and interactive way while learning more about Israel! No previous knowledge of Hebrew required.

Instructor: Ethan Halpern
This drop-in cultural dance program incorporates Jewish and Israeli culture through choreographed dances set to modern music by Israeli artists. The dances students learn are recognized in most programs internationally. No experience is required. Ethan Halpern has been offering this popular Israeli Dance program for 20 years at the J. Preregistration not required. See you on the dance floor!

Have you always wanted to learn how to build software yourself or just to learn more about an amazing Start-Up nation from actual Israeli Tech people, but never knew where to start? Luckily, you can join Liat for a short course where you'll meet real Israeli entrepreneurs and work on your coding skills. No previous experience required. You will get to know Israel as a melting potĚ through the personal story of Liat's family of Moroccan descent. Through a discussion of her service in the intelligence unit, you will learn about the IDF and about Israel as a start-up nation through her job at a company purchased by IBM, about the Israel's senior population, and about other Israeli trivia.

Liat will tell the complex history of Jewish migrations from Jewish tailors to top fashion designers. You will hear the story of the Jewish people through the journey of five of the top Jewish designers in the world. Where did their families come from, how did they become successful, what kind of struggles did they face? Based on an exhibition of Beit Hatfutsot. You will also get to sample some Israeli foods.
