We will have a guided tour of both Washington’s Grist Mill and Distillery which are adjacent to each other. Watch the water wheel turn and the mighty gears rotate as the mill grinds grain using the same system utilized by George Washington in the 18th century. This merchant mill was capable of producing up to 8,000 pounds of flour and corn meal a day and it is fully functioning today. You will also see reproductions of the equipment used in the production of whiskey during that time. In 1799, it was the largest whiskey distillery in America.
After the tours, we will picnic on the grounds or at a neighboring park. Please bring a bagged lunch and a drink to eat at picnic tables.
