Film: For the Love of Spock
Joint Program with the J/Beth El Outreach Group
Documentary | 111 min. | 2016
This film is a loving tribute to the life and legacy of Leonard Nimoy, who portrayed everyone’s favorite Vulcan, Mr. Spock, in the blockbuster Star Trek TV series and
film franchise. In real life, Nimoy was an active member of the Jewish community who could speak and read Yiddish. Filmmaker Adam Nimoy tells the story of his father’s unlikely rise from working-class Jewish roots to become a pop culture icon as First Officer Spock on the U.S.S. Enterprise. The film features interviews with William
Shatner (Captain Kirk), George Takei (Mr. Sulu), Zachary Quinto (Mr. Spock in the Star Trek film reboot) and many others, to provide an intimate portrait of this “fascinating,” extremely talented, and multi-faceted individual.
