Chanukah Celebration, Lunch and Klezmer Music Concert
Presented by: The Khussid’l Pickles--Susan Jones and Vladimir Fridman, Klezmer musicians; and Rabbi Shmuel Perlstein, Chabad Rabbi
In partnership with Chabad Lubavitch of Northern Virginia
We’ll start off our Chanukah celebration with a fabulous buffet lunch that will include roast turkey, a vegetarian option, potato latkes, sufganiyot (jelly donuts—traditional in Israel), and lots more. Following lunch, we’ll enjoy a klezmer musical concert, along with a talk about the history of klezmer music. Born in the shtetls of Eastern Europe and played at simchas (happy occasions) such as weddings and bar mitzvahs, klezmer music is joyful, uplifting, and perfect for Chanukah! Its unique, upbeat sound may have you up on your feet dancing before you know it. I’m counting on it!! We’ll also have a talk by Rabbi Shmuel Perlstein with a “spin” on the Chanukah story.
Fee: $38 (includes holiday lunch, klezmer concert, and discussion)
RSVP: Send completed registration form and payment (payable to “JCCNV”) by December 9 to Sheila Budoff, Adult Department, JCCNV, 8900 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax, VA 22031.
