On Thursday, October 2, the Board of The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington agreed to create a $300,000 Community Emergency Assistance Fund. This fund will alleviate the increased financial pressures local Federation agencies are facing due to the country's recent economic downturn. This funding will last through the end of calendar year 2008, but the Board also agreed to review proposals to extend more funding into 2009.
