Cardio Dance Fusion: Come dance away those calories in a class with music from every era and every genre. Try some salsa, some hip-hop and even a little bit of the pony in this upbeat hour. You’ll sing to every song and be amazed at how much fun a cardio workout could be.
Cardio Kickboxing: This is a high-energy martial arts and aerobic-style workout. This class finishes with toning and gives low- and high-impact options.
Core Beginner/Intermediate: Increase your core strength while giving your back more flexibility. Learn how to engage your core properly to increase strength, control, balance and posture.
Core Advanced: If you’ve been working out for a while but need a change in your core workout and crave intensity, this is the class for you. Enhance strength and stamina and get a little closer to that athletic body you’ve been looking for.
Flexible You: Improve flexibility in a class combining traditional stretches with yoga poses to increase mobility of joints and muscles.
Gentle/Therapeutic Yoga: This class is for those who may be dealing with injuries or various conditions. This gentler class is a complete yoga practice, including breathing and relaxation exercises, physical postures and movements. To participate in these classes, you do not need prior yoga experience and do not have to be able to get down to the floor and back up. All physical activity in the class can be modified for sitting in a chair. Please bring your own yoga mat to class.
H2O: This water aerobics class is done in the shallow area of the pool. It’s a safe resistance for aerobic conditioning, perfect for the joint-sensitive individual.
Jazzercise: Combines cardio, strength and stretch moves for a total body workout. All ages, fitness levels and sizes welcome. Free classes are available on Mondays and Wednesdays to new members for one year.
Kickboxing: A high-intensity interval aerobic exercise program that includes punching and kicking using mitts and shields.
Krav Maga: This self-defense system, used by the Israeli Defense Force, is a contact combat workout including self-defense, fitness and fighting concepts in a fun atmosphere.
Power Training: A high-intensity workout combining strength training with plyometrics, agility/speed and core training for a total body workout.
Sculpt & Shape: Class involves hand-weights, dyna-bands and exercise bars used to provide upper-and lower-body contouring and shaping.
Spinning: Build endurance and increase cardiovascular fitness as your instructor takes you on a ride on stationary spin bicycles. Please note: To reserve your space for this class, please contact the JCCNV Front Desk at 703.323.0880 no more than 48 hours in advance.
Senior Strength Training (Beginner): Chair or standing exercises designed for functional strength training for seniors 65+.
Senior Strength Training (Advanced): Class involves standing cardio exercises, chair or standing functional strength training and flexibility for seniors 65+
Tai Chi: This is a Chinese martial art primarily practiced for its health benefits, including a means for dealing with tension and stress. Tai chi emphasizes complete relaxation and is essentially a form of meditation.
Yoga: Physical exercises, meditations and breathing designed to integrate the mind, body, and spirit.
Zumba: Class features exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. It’s easy to do, effective and no dance experience is necessary.
Zumba Gold: Latin music with modified moves and pace to suit the needs of the active, older participant and those just starting their fitness journey.
