This ancient community has thrived since the exodus in spite of periodic persecutions. Maurice will cover his own family experiences; Egyptian luminaries such as Saadia Gaon, Maimonides, the splendor of ancient Alexandria, the treasure of the Cairo Genizah, the Karaites, and the practical extinction of Egyptian Jewry for the first time since biblical days
