Early Childhood Enrichment Classes

Fall 2014 Enrichment Class Registration begins Monday, August 11.

Specialty classes are organized into days by theme. This structure provides our students with well-rounded, educational, and fun experiences in a variety of areas. Children must be three years old as of 9/30/14 in order to enroll in most specialty classes. Children attending the JCCNV Early Childhood Learning Center must be enrolled in the three-year-old or four-year-old program. Please check class descriptions for age requirements.

Mondays        

Play through Clay

Ages: 3–5 (Must be 3 as of 9/30)
Mondays, November 3–24 (4 weeks)

Discover clay techniques to help your child develop creative art energy. Finished projects will be painted with glazes, acrylic paints or watercolors.

Young Rembrandts

Ages: 3–5 (Must be 3 as of 9/30)
Mondays, December 1–15 (3 weeks)

Young Rembrandts uses art to build drawing skills for children who love to draw and is also a great avenue for those children who would like to brush up on basic learning skills. New and experienced artists welcome.

Tuesdays

Little Yogis

Ages: 3–5 (Must be 3 as of 9/30)

Enroll your little ones in this fun-loving class that uses breathing techniques, yoga poses, movement, songs, and stories that encourage children to move their bodies in fun and creative ways. Classes end with a quiet relaxation period.

Young Musicians

Tuesdays, September 30–December 16 (12 weeks)

Little Hands’ “Young Musicians” class is a pressure-free, developmentally appropriate transition to help children musically succeed before taking on more formal instruction. Young Musicians helps every child develop a confident, joyful voice for singing and speaking.
Fee: $260/ $240 member plus $30 material cost (Please note: material cost will be paid directly to Young Musicians instructor; cash or check made payable to “Young Musicians” only.)

Build It Bigger

Some projects are small and subtle, but we’re going big with these ideas! Children will explore different media and materials to build BIG, BOLD projects that capture the eye.

Colorful Cooking

Come taste the colors of the rainbow! In this class we will taste a variety of foods and try out new recipes based on a different color each week.

Come explore the world of science and let your imagination run wild as we use our senses to create mad science experiments!

Exploring the Solar System

Blast off for an exciting adventure! What is it like to be an astronaut? What is it like in space? We will create our own constellations and astronaut helmets and build a rocket! Hands-on activities, stories, creative drama and songs will allow your child to experience space right here on Earth. Join us for a journey to the stars!

Balloons, Balloons

Thursdays, November 6–20 (3 weeks)

Everyone loves balloons! We will learn more about balloons and what they can do by participating in experiments involving static electricity, charges and the power of air. We’ll engage in hands-on activities to learn how balloons can stick to walls, how to make pepper dance, and how to move a pop can. Together we’ll blast off a balloon rocket! We’ll use balloons for painting, physical activity and enjoy a balloon story!

Easy as ABC

Munch, crunch, work, and walk your way through the alphabet. We will use food, our bodies, and games for alphabet fun. This is a great early literacy experience.
