Shalom Baby: Welcome to Our World

Lunch and Learn

Judaic studies programs are partially underwritten by the Manny Gale Memorial Fund. 

JCCNV Adult Lounge
Tuesdays, Noon—1:30pm
Noon—Bag lunch; 12:30pm—Bible study.
Join in a stimulating series of programs presented with the Foundation for Jewish Studies as area rabbis and educators share their knowledge in this lunchtime series of Bible study. No prior Bible knowledge is necessary, just bring a Bible and an interest in learning. Bring a dairy lunch and we’ll provide drinks. Save by registering for all sessions at the same time. Complete the registration form on this page and return with payment to the Foundation for Jewish Studies.

Hebrew Language

Instructor: Einat Cohen
Conversational Hebrew instruction is offered in the evenings at the JCCNV. Textbooks will be available for purchase the first night. Minimum registration required. Call Carla Rosenfeld at (703) 537-3060 or CarlaR@jccnv.org for information.

The following levels of instruction are available:

Conversational Hebrew

Beginners

Level I
Whether you are interested in learning how to speak Hebrew for travel, business or just personal pleasure and growth, this class will focus on simple spoken Hebrew. The lessons are planned for students with little or no knowledge of conversational Hebrew or the aleph-bet. 

Level II
Designed for students who have some basic knowledge of conversational Hebrew. This course will help students build on that knowledge in order to develop stronger comprehension and language skills to converse more fluently in Hebrew.

Intermediate Conversational Hebrew

For students who have completed Beginning II, this class continues to develop stronger comprehensive and language skills with an emphasis on more conversation, use of correct grammar and vocabulary enrichment.

MASA Israel Journey: Gateway to Long-Term Israel Programs
MASA is an umbrella organization for over 120 semester to one-year of Israel programs including post high school programs, university study abroad; professional internships; and community service programs. For ages 18 – 30. Grants available for all participants from $2,000 to $4,500.
