Join Growing Jewish Families for a fun-filled morning of braiding preschool-friendly challah and listening to a very special PJ Library® story time! Whole Foods will provide the dough — you provide the smiles as we create the perfect challah to take home and bake for Shabbat!

PJ Library® Book Buddies

Most enjoyed by children 12 mos.–8 yrs.
Moms, dads, grandparents, and anyone who loves books — you are invited to bring your children to enjoy PJ Library® story time. Each month we focus on a different Jewish theme or holiday to incorporate into multiple arts and crafts projects for the kids to bring home.

Shalom Baby Playgroups

Connect with other families in the Northern Virginia Jewish community by attending these play groups for children ages 5 and under. This is a wonderful way to meet new people, make new friends, and learn about the local Jewish community.

Buckle in your kiddo and prepare to be amazed at how fast an hour flies by as you zip around with other Jewish families in your area! Bring snacks and a water bottle — and enjoy a fun way to log some steps! Growing Jewish Families and your local Ambassadors (jfa) are excited to invite you to check out a wide variety of playdate options to help you and your family get out and about town this summer! Whether you are looking for an invigorating morning activity for your little one’s boundless energy or an afternoon energy purge before winding down your day, About Town Playdates give you plenty of options and a chance to connect with other local Jewish families in your area. So, whether you enjoy a bagel while the kids play in the park or visit a local fire station, plan to grab your gear and your kids and meet us all about town!

Looking for a gentle, low-stress way to introduce a beautiful Jewish tradition into your family’s summer? Please join Growing Jewish Families and your local Ambassadors for three different Havdalah Hangout events this summer, as we say farewell to Shabbat and begin our new week in the company of wonderful friends — new and old! -The Science of Light & Motion Show – 2 shows (3:30pm ages 3–6, 4:15pm ages 6–10)
-Menorah Making Contest – engineer your own menorah using recycled materials
-Explore your artistic side with crafts
-Create & build with giant Imagination Building Blocks
-Dreidel Contest – compute how long your spinning dreidel will last
-Record your holiday message to the community
-Food – latkes & sufganiyot

Community Service Project
Spread some love this holiday season and help fill the Prize Basket for babies, kids, and teens who get blood drawn at the Pediatric Specialists of VA's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in Falls Church. Due to compromised immune systems, items must be NEW and in original packaging. Each prize should cost $5 or less.
Suggested items: baby rattles, teething toys, small stuffed animals, Beanie Babies, small trucks, bubbles, board books, mini transformers, Matchbox Cars, small vehicles, bouncy balls, animals, dinosaurs, small characters and figurines, activity pads, Silly Putty, Play-Doh, Playfoam, model magic, kinetic sand, Legos®, fun school supplies, glows sticks, nail polish, Mad Libs®, or activity booklets.
