INCLUSION AT J SUMMER CAMPS:

We support the inclusion of all children in camp, regardless of one’s physical, social or emotional needs. Camp is a place to learn, grow and have fun! If your child needs additional support to ensure a successful summer in J Camps, we can arrange for an Inclusion Support Staff (Shadow) at an additional cost. Priority will be given to campers who register by May 9 for either the full summer or 4-week session.  We look forward to supporting you and your child for a successful and fun-filled summer! Please contact Arlene Lechner,  or 703.537.3032, to arrange for an Inclusion Support Staff or for any other accommodations.

Kadima 2018

Kadima is a recreational social skills camp for children with High Functioning Autism (formerly known as Asperger’s), ADD/ADHD, and related disorders. Kadima’s mission is to improve social and emotional skills in a safe and nurturing environment. The camp is designed to provide opportunities to build self-esteem, social competence, independence skills, self-awareness and to foster positive relationships. Campers learn and grow dynamically as the camp is designed for social success in an inclusive environment. Parent meetings provide the opportunity to receive feedback on their children as well as a forum for questions and building camaraderie with the other Camp Kadima families. The camp day includes social skills lessons in conjunction with general camp activities such as swim, sports, arts and crafts, music, all-camp activities and much more!   Rising 1st–3rd graders receive swim lessons during the day and 4th–6th graders have free swim.   Both groups go on a field trip once a week, and rising 4th–6th graders will go on a overnight trip each session to Camps Airy & Louise!

Social Skills curriculum includes but is not limited to:

Team-building and teamwork ● Winning/losing ● Flexibility ● Impulse control ● Coping strategies ● Anger management ● Friendship building ● Conversation skills ● Personal awareness
