Adult Services

NV Rides is looking for an entrepreneurial individual for the following position:
NVRides Coordinator general function:
Develop, administer, monitor, and continuously improve a grant funded program that will work with community organizations in Northern Virginia/Fairfax County in providing coordination of volunteer drivers and older adults in need of transportation. Work closely with NV Rides Steering Committee and Advisory Committee (composed of leaders from participating community organizations) to develop and implement the coordinated hub for volunteer drivers and clients in need of rides. Supervise  Marketing/Outreach staff for NV Rides. Become expert with software (i.e., Ride Scheduler) for input and reporting purposes. Track program budget; submit reporting to grantor accurately and on time. Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining confidentiality. Director of Development (Full-time)

Reports to: Executive Director
Salary Range: $75,000-$90,000

As a member of the senior management team, the Director of Development will design and implement a comprehensive strategy to secure financial support and strengthen relationships with donors. S/he will work with the Executive Director, marketing and program departments to create a culture of fundraising awareness and the collateral materials to ensure necessary success.

The Director of Development must be an innovative, entrepreneurial, outgoing and creative leader who brings demonstrated success in fundraising and communications. A passionate advocate for the vision and core values of the JCCNV, s/he must be adept at working closely with board, staff, and volunteers, developing new constituencies and communicating widely to a variety of stakeholders.

Having recently completed a period of strategic visioning, the JCCNV is beginning to implement stated goals.  The Director of Development will work closely with the Executive Director, PR/Marketing Director and others to design and implement a highly coordinated Board and staff “brandraising” initiative that raises the profile of the JCCNV brand in our community and supports the J’s Vision, Values and Strategies.

The JCCNV is beginning the quiet phase of a capital campaign and the Director of Development will drive all aspects of the campaign. While initial focus will be on the capital campaign, the Director of Development will oversee all department efforts. The department is supported by a full-time Development Coordinator, who will help seamlessly integrate the campaign with ongoing annual and legacy initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead efforts of upcoming capital campaign
  • Provide overall direction and set priorities for the fundraising functions of the agency
  • Raise community awareness of our new ‘brand’ in support of our Vision.
  • Interact with executive staff and department heads to maintain a development culture throughout the JCC and ensure that fundraising projects are consistent with timelines, values and internal capacity
  • Create energy, excitement, awareness and a culture of philanthropy to support our home in the Northern Virginia Jewish Community.
  • Set developmental goals to achieve our Capital and growth needs.
    • Seek and use designated giving and targeted grants.
    • Seek funds locally and nationwide as the Jewish exurban response to change.
  • Take a leadership role in prospecting for new donors, further developing current donors, and aggressively soliciting gifts.
  • Train the board to lead with their gifts and to exercise their role as fundraisers, ambassadors and cheerleaders for our Vision in all parts of the community.
  • Expand major gifts and legacy giving, including donor cultivation, recognition and stewardship
  • Continue and expand institutional giving (foundations, corporations, government)
  • Grow and professionally support a Development Committee that maximizes the participation of lay leaders and solicitors and positions them as a key fundraising arm of the organization


  • Excellent oral, written and communication skills
  • Self-starter, ability to plan and manage complex events and projects
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and projects
  • Broad-based knowledge of various development campaign activities
  • Significant experience motivating volunteers and actively soliciting gifts from individual and institutional donors
  • Proven ability to translate broad goals and strategies into programs and activities that increase revenue
  • Strong budgeting, strategic planning, and marketing skills
  • Experience in nonprofit management
  • Advanced degree preferred

Family Services Department


JCCNV Camps offers a wide range of staffing opportunities.  We have positions ranging from general counselor to specialist with all age groups, starting at 2 years old through high school.  Applications are available starting Monday, January 20th.  Please complete along with 3 reference forms and return at your earliest convenience.  In person interviews will be scheduled for late February/early March.

Dance Director
Application Deadline: July 31, 2014

The Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia (Fairfax) seeks creative, thoughtful and disciplined person to be Dance Director for the JCCNV Dance Program, a year-round program within the Family Services Department. The program is designed to take students from their first movement class through a diverse dance curriculum, offering instruction in ballet, tap, modern, jazz, hip-hop and other styles to more than 150 children and adults of all ages and abilities in a developmentally appropriate environment.

The Dance Director is responsible for planning and execution of curriculum and class schedule; produces, directs and choreographs annual tech demos and/or recital; works closely with parents in providing feedback and progress reports about individual dancers; hires and supervises teachers; and manages the annual program budget. Director also teaches several classes per week. The JCCNV is a member of the National Dance Education Organization and the Fairfax County Dance Coalition.

Qualifications: Professional dance background and/or a BFA degree or higher in Dance or related field; experience working with children and families; and experience teaching dance. Managerial experience required. Candidate must pass a background check and CPR certification (training can be provided by the JCCNV). An interest in or knowledge of Judaism is helpful, but not required.

Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC)

Join the dedicated team at the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia Early Childhood Learning Center. We are seeking dynamic teachers to join our educational team for our year-round, full-day early childhood center for toddlers through Pre-K. The ECLC is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and our staff co-teaches in a professional, collaborative, Jewish environment.

Full-time positions begin August 25. Looking for experienced professionals with experience or knowledge of emergent curriculum, project approach, and/or Reggio Emilia inspired philosophy. All applicants must have experience working with young children, be organized, have excellent writing skills and a good understanding of digital and media languages. Applicants do not need to be of the Jewish faith but must be open to learning. CDA, AA or BA in Early Childhood Education (or child related field) is required. Full-time position includes medical, childcare and JCCNV membership benefits.

Special Needs Department

Special Needs Camp Counselors & Inclusion Facilitators
The Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia (JCCNV) Special Needs Department is looking for summer camp counselors and Inclusion Facilitators (shadows) for children with special needs in our day camp ranging from 1st-9th graders. Camp counselors will work in our special needs camp, assisting in facilitating social skills and aiding in camp activities such as sports, arts, cooking, science, music, and much more! Inclusion Facilitators will be in the general camp, where they will aid a child with a special need with staying on task, redirecting when needed and/or helping him/her to have a positive experience as they interact with peers and engage in activities. Camp hours are 8:30am-4:30pm Monday-Friday with additional hours as needed. The camp runs from June 30-August 22nd and you must be able to attend all of orientation (June 25-29).  Experience working with children with special needs is required.  Please contact

Part-Time Special Needs Shadows
The Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia (JCCNV) is looking for part-time staff to shadow children with special needs in our before- and after-school programs. Daily activities in this inclusive program range from board games, playground, art projects, homework assistance, etc.  Being a shadow includes aiding a child with a special need in staying on task, redirecting when needed and helping him/her to have a positive experience as they interact with peers and engage in activities. These children have Autism, Asperger’s syndrome, ADD/ADHD or other related disorders. Hours can vary but are typically Monday through Friday between 7:30am–9am and/or 3:15pm–6pm, depending on what days/times the child is registered for.

Part-time Volunteers in Special Needs Department
The Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia (JCCNV) is looking for dedicated volunteers to help with various programs in our Special Needs Department. Volunteer opportunities include programs for children, teens, young adults, and adults on Sunday afternoons and/or helping with various fundraising programs or shadowing a child with a special need in an inclusive program. We are looking for people that are able to volunteer on a consistent basis.

USA Swimming Head Coach needed for competitive swim team, Monday - Friday after school/11 hours a week.
